Tips for self-flowering crops

In Kannabia’s new self-flowering varieties, the sativa subspecies is present in a higher proportion than rudelaris. This means, because of the presence of sativa, longer growth and flowering periods, higher production (the plants are taller), better flavour and smell (mature plant) and a higher psychoactive content, while rudelaris ensures that the plants are completely indifferent to the photoperiod.

For the best results, we recommend growing these plants outdoors, since the whole process may take up to three and a half months. They are not like the 60-70 day self-flowering varieties, but over 100 days, to assure the highest yield and optimal psychoactive content, as well as the best flavour and smell.

You can grow it from early March until mid-October, with no fear of pest or fungus attack. The flowering time will never be shorter than six weeks, depending on the climatic conditions the plant is subjected to. This increase in the plant’s vegetative and flowering cycle is compensated for with an higher yield and greater psychoactivity.

Growing indoors is recommended only for experienced growers, as the plants need un controlling during the vegetative (growing) stage, which may last up to two months (eight weeks). We strongly recommend using a photoperiod of less than 16 hours (12-14 hours for novice growers) using 400W hps lamps. It’s also very important to control how the plant is fed during this period. We recommend stopping feeding the plant with growth fertilisers and or root stimulants in the fifth week, using the sixth week to clean the roots with enzymes and the seventh week to start using a flowering stimulant. By the eighth week, the plant should be starting to flower fully.

These varieties have mostly been designed for outdoor cultivation in the spring and summer, for harvesting in early and late summer. Two reasonably copious crops a year can be obtained by starting one batch in March and another in the early summer, harvesting in mid-September.
